We've already discussed it lately: Many Coworking Spaces have been popping up in Leipzig, and they have many advantages and a few disadvantages. We, the IOTIQ GmbH ourselves, are located in the Basislager on Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse in the south of Leipzig, opposite of the headquarters of the Leipziger Volkszeitung (LVZ). But what exactly makes the Basislager special? And with whom do we share the building? A little insight.
It's no coincidence that the Basislager is located opposite the LVZ, as it is one of it’s investors, besides the Madsack Media Group. This means that they are not only monetarily involved in the project, but are also open to the startup topic as media partners – which in turn can also benefit the startups. The Basislager houses not only more than 30 startups, but also almost daily events in the foyer and in various event rooms, thus making a significant contribution to the startup culture and community in Leipzig. The Basislager also supports startups with the help of its network when it comes to funding.
On 5 floors there are about 120 workstations available, in addition there are individual offices (as is the one we have), as well as a roof terrace and a courtyard. Today, we would like to introduce three of our colleagues to you in our coworking office to showcase it’s internal diversity.
First up: The Leipzig Glocal, Leipzig's first international online magazine for all topics concerning culture, lifestyle and everything that moves the city. The appeal of this magazine lies in seeing Leipzig from the eyes of a 'Zugezogener' (someone who generally does not originally come from Leipzig and now lives here) or an English-Native-Speaker. On the visually very appealing homepage, modelled after a classic print newspaper, you will find tips on food, art and literature. For international guests or newcomers to Leipzig, tips on English hotspots, jobs, films in the original version and English-speaking doctors are of particular advantage. Under @leipglo you can find them on all common social networks. We like!
We can also count the “Algenheld” among our roommates, who clears up prejudices against healthy chocolate. The algae Spirulina, which contains 64 grams of protein per 100 grams, is a real superfood and is combined regionally with chocolate to equal the algae hero product. The final result is a crunchy bar that functions as a 'nutrient filling station': with the help of cocoa, acerola, amaranth and algae. Yum!
