IOTIQ at MWC Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2024

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the world's largest trade fair for the mobile tech ecosystem. MWC brings together not only mobile device vendors, but also telecommunications providers, start-ups and software development companies. In addition to the exhibitions, which extend over eight halls, the MWC offers a variety of discussions, workshops and lectures in which the developments of the past year are reflected and new trends are discussed.

MobiVisor and AuToWin at Mind4Machines

Thanks to our partnership with 'Mind4Machines', we had the opportunity to present a stand for MobiVisor and another product called AuToWin at the MWC this year. Besides our CEO Özer, Bilge from the R&D team and Saskia from the marketing team were also present in Barcelona to present IOTIQ and our products.

We asked Saskia for a quick evaluation of the event:

  1. What was your first impression of MWC?

I don't think I've ever been to such a large trade fair before - so I was simply amazed by the sheer number of exhibitors and visitors. Although the site is so big, everything was clearly waymarked and it was easy to find your way around. I found it exciting that the trade fair is very international. I would have initially assumed that the trade fair would be much more Euro-centric because it was in Barcelona.

  1. What did you notice in particular?

Of course, it's always exciting to see what the 'big' device providers like Samsung, Huawei etc. have to offer. The stands here were of course particularly large and eye-catching. Other companies didn't let themselves down in this respect either: Android, for example, had a large part of the outdoor area to itself with the 'Android Avenue'. Some stands looked very futuristic, some almost like a lounge with their own bar. You really noticed that the optics play a very important role.

  1. What did you think of the discussions and panels?

I attended two events: the Smartphone Security Assurance Workshop and the Security Summit - Strengthening Mobile Ecosystem Security. The former was about how to introduce a uniform security standard for mobile devices and what benefits this can bring. The second event focused primarily on the threats to cyber security and how these are changing as a result of AI. I found the conclusion that the threats are much less modular, but are increasingly intended to paralyze entire networks in order to extort the largest possible sums of money. The fact that AI can be used means that attacks are also happening faster and more frequently, meaning that companies hardly have any time to react.

  1. How do you rate the success of MobiVisor and AuToWin?

I had the feeling that MobiVisor was the only MDM represented there at all. Also, surprisingly few people, who are after all from the industry, were even familiar with the term MDM. So we had to explain quite a lot about what MobiVisor can and does. It was similar with AuToWin - but here, too, there were some interested parties from the industry who were quite taken with the product. After all, predictive maintenance saves a lot of money. We were also able to pick up some contact details for MobiVisor and AuToWin and of course hope that successful partnerships will develop from this.

Info: AuToWin is a product that has its origins in a European research project. With the help of digital twins of all components in a production line, the aim is to be able to calculate exactly when a component needs to be replaced - before it fails and causes high costs due to the resulting production downtime.

Conclusion:

All in all, the MWC is well worth a visit, especially because you also have the chance to make business contacts in non-European countries. The presentations and panel discussions feature first-class experts (although it should be noted that the proportion of female speakers was quite low). As a result, the event has a very good professional basis in terms of content. Visitors should also bring plenty of time with them: the eight exhibition halls really are very spacious and there is a lot to see.
